This Japanese style of sushi began as street food in Tokyo almost 200 years back and has evolved into a sophisticated experience. The small pieces are either raw or marinated and then rolled in bite-size pieces vinegar rice, also known as nigiri. These masterworks of fresh fish are best eaten right away from the time they are made. Kabuto's Omakase dishes include three types and an a-la carte menu. This includes an appetizer (sashimi), miso soup, and dessert. Kabuto's Chinatown is just west from the Strip and it is well worth the short trip.





There are many options for sushi, sushi rolls and deep-fried rolls. They also offer sushi plates, donburi (rice bowls), udon (noodles), and sashimi. Hirobu offers both a vegetarian- and gluten-free menu. You can dine-in or order to-go. Kumi is a Japanese restaurant that serves Korean cuisine. They are located in Mandalay Bay at the southern end of Las Vegas Strip. This place has a wonderful ambiance and top-notch service. Bluefin Tuna Pizza was the highlight of my visit to this restaurant. Kumi offers many other options, including special sushi rolls, sashimi and combination plates, Wagyu beef, seafood, and even nigiri.

Kaiseki Yuzu offers two types of dining experience, a sushi restaurant and kaiseki. Kaiseki is a multi-course meal featuring a wide range of options. It can cost between $125 and $210 depending on the course, but it's worth the investment. You should also know that they are closed Tuesday through Wednesday. Zuma, if you're staying at Cosmopolitan is your closest sushi option. It was inspired by Izakaya, a casual Japanese restaurant. Zuma is well-known in Japan for its award winning cocktails. But, it also serves authentic Japanese food.

Yama also has two locations: one in Chinatown, and one on Flamingo Road close to UNLV. Each location charges slightly more for all-you-can-eat sushi specials. Flamingo is Las Vegas' longest-standing sushi spot. Sakana Sushi can be found 5 minutes east on Maryland Parkway. The fast service and cheap AYCE specials are what make this sushi restaurant so popular. There are many options for signature rolls, deep-fried rolls and spicy rolls.

Most of the dishes fall within the $10-$25 price range. Delivery and takeout are also available. Hiroba Sushi can also be found in Henderson, near Tokyo Boys. Hiroba Sushi isn't as popular as other sushi shops in Vegas, just like Tokyo Boys. Locals who eat at Hiroba rave about its fast service and affordable prices.
