What are the treatments? It depends on what area is being treated. The application of a numbing gel to the area should be done approximately 20 minutes before the procedure. There might be some discomfort but no pain. A local anesthesia, along with the numbing cream, will be used for deeper treatments. For treatment of acne, we recommend that you return within 24 to 48 hour to get further treatment. The treatment involves inserting an insulated needle in the fat pad or wrinkle to treat acne. Radio frequency is used to trigger the right number of pulses for each area.
What does recovery look like? You might experience redness, swelling, or bruising the first week. For more advanced treatments, you might experience some numbness around the treated area for upto four weeks. When can I expect to see the results? The area treated may appear worse after the procedure, which is normal. The results of the procedure will be noticeable over time. You'll notice a marked improvement in the structure and appearance of the treated area. Although it is possible for maximum results with one treatment, not all procedures are the same. You may need to do more than one treatment in order to achieve the best results.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
